Before you press play – put on your headphones, turn the volume all the way up, and let “Hollow Life” bring you some place else.

“Runnin runnin runnin from my problems”

“You’ll be sittin pretty baby hold on tight”

“Hollow Life,” by newcomers Coast Modern, is the kind of song that you turn on to tune out everything and truly get entrenched in the music. The soothing vocals, unique and entrancing, are paired with extremely relatable lyrics – everyone can relate to lyrics about growing up too fast, the fear of facing problems, and well, life in general.

The LA-based songwriters Luke Atlas and Coleman Trapp of Coast Modern explain that the creation of their project was based purely on the whims of their creative spark. While writing songs for other people, Luke and Coleman had an epiphany – why not write for themselves, on their own terms? “After we stopped shooting at an invisible moving target and had no agenda,” they explain, “that’s when the sound came.“

“Hollow Life” is an anthem for restless souls everywhere. Buried within the synth-pop track is frustration and a longing for an escape. Coast Modern has made their debut with this track and it’s safe to say that these guys are on their way up.

Here at TMD, we love a good remix. Lucky for us, Blue Hawaii has transformed Tei Shi’s “Go Slow” into a hypnotizing record. With growing buzz surrounding the talented songstress, Tei Shi knows how to churn out killer tracks such as “Nevermind the End,” “Bassically,” and of course, “Go Slow.” Fortunately, we have the pleasure of listening to “Go Slow” in a new way.

Steering away from the original tune that has you moving in all types of ways, Blue Hawaii switches it up with funky, opening beats and sporadic, yet atmospheric sounds. To put it simply, Blue Hawaii alters the original into a melodic, trance-like soundscape. With chopped snippets of smooth bass, Tei Shi’s angelic voice floats through the track, providing an ambient remix.

If you’re immersed within the world of electro-pop music, it’s likely that ASTR is a household name. As long time fans of the NYC-based duo, which is comprised of female vocalist Zoe Silverman and producer Adam Pallin, we are thrilled to share the video for their latest single “Activate Me.”

With a knack for mixing genres, ASTR’s sound falls on a unique spectrum of pop-inspired R&B with a taste of electronic, indie alternative. “Activate Me” is a dark dance track inspired by 90s house music. ASTR explains:

“‘Activate Me’ is definitely a different sound for us, something heavily inspired by New York’s legacy when it was the center of house music in the 90s. It’s moody and dark like some of our older songs but with a more upbeat and dance twist.”

Steering away from shimmery pop, “Activate Me” is filled with ASTR’s signature bright synths and bouncy beats, creating an immediate dance club anthem.

So turn up the volume, dance away with Zoe and her killer dance moves, and be on the lookout for their sophomore EP, Homecoming.

While sifting through my daily routine of music discovery and blog reading, I came across a track that absolutely amazed me. It was one of those tracks that automatically clicks with you – the hypnotizing, opening sounds, the effortless beauty in its vocals, music production that sends continuous chills all over. “Caught in clouds, heavy dreams” – this track was “Easy” by Sibling and I had to learn more.

I started to research like crazy. As I searched through each social media platform, I became slightly confused: 100 Facebook likes (and 2 posts), 4 Twitter Followers (and 3 tweets), and almost no press coverage. This blew my mind – there was too much talent here to be unknown. I was determined to get the scoop on the Venice Beach natives.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Sibling and they kindly answered several of questions and cleared my confusion. If you’re wondering who they are, what inspires this beautiful sound, and if there’s a reason behind their small internet presence, check it out below. We’re expecting big and beautiful things from this duo.

CHELSEA: With a fairly new name, Sibling, emerging into the music scene, we are curious…who is the woman behind the beautiful track “Easy”?

BRYAN: The driving forces behind Sibling are Elodie and Bryan. Elodie is the singer/songwriter and Bryan is the songwriter/producer.

It was an awesome moment and right there I knew we needed to work on something together. I think I ranted the whole way home about it and we started writing the next week.

By now, it’s quite clear that NY-based singer-songwriter VÉRITÉ is a force to be reckoned with. After catching her at SXSW this past March, her powerful (and packed out!) performance was a true indicator of her immense talent and growing success. With the consistent capacity to churn out killer tracks, as we have seen from songs such as “Wasteland,” “Echo,” and “Weekend,” VÉRITÉ gifts us with “Colors” – a wildly vibrant indie-pop production that is narrated by the songstress’s storytelling.

“Colors,” which is instantly infectious and wildly intriguing, illustrates VÉRITÉ’s knack for crafting complex lyrics and her clear ability to make her mark in the pop music world. The first few moments are entrancing, but as soon as the heavy beat kicks in and VÉRITÉ’s voice sweeps over, you’re hooked. Produced by MSMR’s Zach Nicita, “Colors” possesses a driving rhythm that is completely blown out of the water with her powerful voice. She explains that “lyrically, it has a really complex, convoluted meaning to me that has changed with each iteration of the song.”

Take a listen below and keep your eye out for this one!

Right around this time last year, I was introduced to one of my favorite Brooklyn-based trios. Instantly attracted to their sound, I fell in love with Wet and listened to their 2013 self-titled debut EP on repeat all year long.

So if you’re anything like me – meaning that you’ve been waiting for Wet to release another killer track to love – you’re in luck. With their signature synth sounds, singer Kelly Zutrau moves us with her beautifully delicate voice in “Deadwater.” Pulling from influences such as TLC and Usher, “Deadwater” possesses a ‘90s feel with a touch of R&B. This powerful song is a classic Wet track – it’s so unbelievably relatable and Zutrau’s charming voice carries emotion and feelings that tug at your heartstrings.

Wet has been busy crafting their new debut LP, Don’t You, and it’s expected to drop sometime this year via Columbia – we can’t wait. In the meantime, take a listen to “Deadwater” below.

Not too long ago, we had the pleasure of interviewing a talented indie pop group who impressed the US with their smashing hit “Get Closer.” With rising success and a knack for creating energetic pop anthems, London-based quartet Life in Film show no signs of stopping. With a contagious guitar run to start off the track, Life in Film does it again and impresses us all with “Alleyway.”

Filled with energetic and sun-kissed charm, this new jam is an instant attention-grabber. With an infectious beat and a longing for past love, frontman Samuel Fry blows us away with his laid-back and soothing voice. “It’s a song about seeing someone for the first time after having broken up,” Fry explains. “It’s a homage to ‘Ladies Party’ in the final verse from David Bowie’s Diamond Dogs, he was a huge influence on me growing up and so it popped into my head when I was writing the lyrics.”

While you listen below, get excited for their 12-track EP to drop in early May and take a look at their upcoming tour dates with the Wombats.
