Happy Summah! Good and you? It’s Tropical Tuesday and I’m sitting here wearing my freshest short sleeve button down featuring flamingos and wind surfers cause that’s what this song demands. A marriage made in funky vibes heaven. Pink Flamingo Rhythm Review and French Horn Rebellion teamed up to release this funkdafied slow burner to get your mind right. In case you haven’t learned yet, Pink Flamingo Rhythm Review is the brainchild of Doc Mendelsohn of Ghost Beach. And French Horn Rebellion needs to further introduction. They’re releasing this tune with some even bigger news which is a new full length album coming out this fall. If this is just a taste of what’s to come then we are in for a treat!

So I came across this rock track the other day, and while said genre isn’t usually my cup of tea I couldn’t help rocking out. The material is courtesy of LA pop/rock artist, Alex Feder, formally known as Leonard Friend. The uplifting vocals are probably the highlight for me. The title and pinnacle of the chorus, “these days the kids dance to moments of silence,” is in my mind a reference to the fast paced and often violent nature of our generation. I actually have spent some time reflecting upon this unfortunate condition, so the song was particularly meaningful to me. The preceding line, “hearts are so wired and loves are so violent,” sends a similar message, relating possibly to the technological advancement experienced by our generation. I won’t analyze the rest of the lyrics for you, because for one I don’t have time, but more importantly because the song will resonate very personally for each one of us, and so my interpretation may be meaningless to you. Lyrics aside, the track boasts some cool synths during the intro and killer drum patterns throughout the chorus. Certainly some pop influence here. Stream and download below.

These are the fun ones. When your friends get together and create something awesome. This is truly what it’s all about. There have been grumblings about this remix for months. And to FINALLY get a chance to listen to this audio gold is just top shelf. At this point, you know Dart Party the man, the myth, the legend. And you know Minnesota-based rockers Step Rockets and when the two decided to do the damn thing we are left with can only be described as a tune that makes me want to ice skate. Like literally, when you’re in the DJ booth and your playing a song and your feet are moving back and forth as though you’re actually skating on ice. That’s where I’m at. Be on the lookout for more fire (and ice) from Dart Party & Step Rockets soon.

The LA based quartet, Mansions On The Moon, has been consistently pumping beats onto my radar for the past three years or so. Needless to say, its a real surprise they haven’t gained more recognition for it. They stay true to a modern brand of chill wave marked by downtempo bass and dreamy electronic synths. Their stuff fits in the same variety with music by the LA band, Carousel, and Philadelphia natives, Work Drugs. Two equally impressive names well worth your attention.

The latest release from Mansions On The Moon, Where You Are, showcases the band’s slower side with hazy vocals and melodic rhythms from both the keyboard and bass. Its the kinda coma inducing track you’ll find yourself listening to speechless and half conscious at 4 am, a sedative drug if you will. So… stream below and make sure to check out Mansions On The Moon on Souncloud.

Summer might be over but but don’t tell that to TMD alums Night Drive. Cause they’re keeping the dream alive with their brand new remix of Goldroom‘s “Till Sunrise”. While Night Drive’s been busy in the studio producing their new album they stopped the presses when they heard the airy vocal stems featuring Mammals. The two producers decided to make use of the studio time and put their own spin on the track. Adding live bass, guitars, and layered with silky electronic textures, Night Drive has created a unique track that stands all on its own. The remix picks up the pace with a soothing pulse of energy that glides along the top of a soft undercurrent to the end of summer.

Keep your eyes open for the band’s new single, “Young Rivals” releasing early next month with an official remix by ASTR and official music video by their ongoing visual collaborators, Lobo Sucio Creative.

I usually hate admitting that a remix from an established producer lead me to the original material. Something about not uncovering that gem myself… it bothers me. The case holds here, except the prominent producer in question, Filous, only seems to add to the magic that is Coming Over by James Hersey.

The track in short recognizes the most basic and honest joy of visiting that special someone. Hersey chants throughout the track “all I need is you and a bit of music.” Too real. For him, that visit trumps all other thoughts, clearing his mind and obviously allowing him to produce beautifully sincere music. And that’s just the original work. The track is then taken to the beat lab and equipped with that sooting ambiance Filous has become famous for. Both the acoustic and remix are dream material. Stream and download below.

I can guarantee you that this won’t be the last time I post a remix of Goldroom’s Till Sunrise. I can also guarantee that this won’t be the last time I post something produced by Brussels based, relatively unknown producer Pacifico. This version of Goldroom’s summer twilight jam makes it even sexier. I feel like a kid in 1987 watching a scene where the down on his luck cop finally gets the girl. And they embrace and it’s beautiful and the sky is on fire. Waves are crashing and nothing else matters. And that’s when you know music is beautiful, when it paints a picture in your mind and it becomes real.

Countless remixes have been done of Sam Smith’s powerful track, Stay With me. Many are worth a listen, but few truly harness your attention like this one does. The NYC producer, Prince Fox, slides us into the track with a quiet intro paying homage to Sam Smith’s golden pipes. But don’t let the start deceive you… Around 1:15 the beat finally kicks and we have ourselves a sneaky banger. Not only does Prince Fox do justice to the original material, he takes the track to another level entirely. Check it out. Loving the name by the way.
