So that was 2013 huh? Pretty solid year. I’ve been working on this list all year. Full disclosure, if you’re looking for the obvious “Best of 2013″ list, this is not for you. This is more about the tracks that might have slipped through the cracks, the tracks that never quite got the attention they deserved. Some of them are more obvious than others (read: Daft Punk). While others, need to be heard (read: Streets of Laredo).

How do you boil down a year to 15 songs? In my case, you don’t. You make a soundcloud best of and a Spotify Best of list. We had a banner year personally, professionally and musically. A lot of firsts that I am extremely thankful for. Rather than sit here and wax poetic on what was definitely the best year of my life, why don’t you just sit back and listen to these tunes that helped make 2013 so special?

TMD’s August Mixtape

There’s just too much good music going on right now. I’m all kinds of jacked up about this month’s mixtape. If you were worried about me dropping a surprise mixtape last week, fear not. This one might just be better. Last week I was reallly feeling the horizontal disco vibe. This week, we’re all about that nu-disco state of mind. The lead track really sets the tone for the rest of the mixtape. We’re still all about summer and now we’re trying to get that weekend dance party started a day early. I hope you enjoy this one, it was really fun to make.

Woah. This is another pairing that I knew right off the bat was going to be pure audio bliss. We’ve been on the Foals train ever since we started sniffing around before Coachella and they’re only grown since then. Alex Metric always brings the heat and never spreads himself too thin. So you can see why I was so excited to get my paws on this one. Take a listen. The build that starts at 4:42 is all time. It’s fantastic.
