Bel Heir is bringing the groove again and they have shared a one-two punch of awesome tracks today.

Free is my favorite of the duo and features some classic Bel Heir vocals, soft synth and pulsing bass. The song wants you to set it free, I suggest you do as it says.

NYC is an ode to one of the greatest cities in the world, Tokyo! A happy April Fools to you too.

This ballad dedicated to New York is all about giving in to the immensity of the city and accepting that sometimes, you just can’t live without it. Not bad for the boys from Philly. It makes me miss living New York, badly.

Jason’s Year in Review – 2013

Like the eighth night of Hanukkah or bedtime on Christmas eve, the end of our 2013 year in review lists has come too soon. Each one of us has enjoyed sharing some of our favorite songs with you this year. There were so many great tracks that were released that it was very difficult to pick just a few to represent what 2013 had to offer. The following are small selection of my favorites from the past year.

For each of us this was a difficult task. How does one compare Postiljonen, Two Door Cinema Club and The Knocks? Each one feels so different and fills such a unique niche that we could debate their individual merits well into 2014. At the end of the day, sometimes you just have to go with your gut. Fortunately, that is pretty much what we do around here which is how we made it through this harrowing experience.

Unlike my cohorts, I was unable to pare down my selection to fewer than twenty tracks. Anything less than that seemed unrepresentative of the wonderful tapestry of music that has passed through our collective imagination here at TMD. I hope you enjoy this installment and please let us know if any of your faves that were left on the chopping block (we all have some there, trust me). Happy holidays and enjoy!!!

It’s getting to be that time of year. The weather’s colder, days are shorter and we just might start seeing some snow hit the ground sooner rather than later. Like all seasons, I love winter. Part of the beauty of living in the northeast is that you actually get 4 seasons. And when each one rolls around, that’s my favorite season at the time. So get out your ski boots and neon onesie. It’s time to warm things up.

New Music From Bel Heir

We’ve fallen pretty hard for Bel Heir as of late. They’ve been releasing two songs on the first Tuesday of the month since July. With each new release, we get a little bit more obsessed. There’s no denying the influences they’re drawing comparisons to. One can’t help but think of The Neighborhood right off the bat. But the music stands on its own. The dark synths and falsetto vocals make for some really sexy tunes that you’ll have on repeat for the rest of the year. Enjoy.

Just when you’re not looking something comes out of left field and smacks you right in the face. In this case it was ASTR‘s remix of Bel Heir‘s Kiss the Devil. Nothing like a group from Philly mixing it up with a couple of New Yorkers. The resulting magic is tantalizing, emotive and well, heavenly. What are you waiting for, give it a listen!
