I have a soft spot in my heart for Capital Cities. Ever since I heard the epic trumpet hook in Safe and Sound three years ago (has it been that long!?!?!?) I’ve been a fan. I’ve seen these fellas live a few times and I can say the always bring it. Whether they play in the basement of Santos Party House in NYC or at the Greek Theater in LA, they come with the heat.

Their newest single, One Minute More, features some classic Capital Cities vocals and a piano sample worthy of RAC, himself. Capital Cities never lets me down and this track is another excellent effort by the boys from LA.

I am also very, VERY, excited about the Clifflight Remix of Lazy Lies. This dance-y, toe-tapper is a great addition to the Capital Cities portfolio. It’s just adds another great tune to an already wonderful library. Big up to Clifflight for this bangin’ remix!

5th Annual Sweetlife Festival Lineup Announced

If you haven’t eaten at a Sweetgreen salad shop you’re making a huge mistake. Seriously, I almost missed my train back from DC last month because I made the cabbie stop at Sweetgreen. My loyalty can be attributed equally to their delicious District Cobb as to the impeccable indie rock playlists that bump throughout each store. Sometimes I think they’ve just got TMD | All Day on loop. And just when I thought my lunch couldn’t get any cooler, it goes and throws a carbon neutral/environmentally sustainable music festival featuring all my favorite acts.

Congrats to Sweetgreen on announcing their Fifth Annual Sweetlife Music Festival. It’s going down May 10 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in DC featuring four of my personal faves: Spirit Animal, ASTR, St. Lucia and Bastille. Capital Cities – A Tidal Wave of Mystery

Capital Cities much anticipated new album dropped yesterday. As a Capital Cities devotee, I was very excited. This album brings us a number of favorites from the Capital Cities EP that was released in December as well as a number of new jams. Safe and Sound and I Sold My Bed, But Not My Stereo are perennial favorites. Farrah Fawcett Hair is one of the new tracks and is quickly climbing the hypem charts. It’s cool mod/disco sound brings something new and interesting with some nice contributions from Andre 3000 that are perfect for this song. Chartreuse brings us back to that electropop mixed with Cake sounds that we all love so much from Capital Cities. Also not to be overlooked is the more sexy, upbeat and dancy track, Origami. The album was already set up for success with the plethora of singles from an excellent EP but has managed to add some new gems that will go directly into my playlists! Enjoy these jams at all your summer bashes, you won’t regret it!

This track from LA duo Capital Cities is just spot on. They took a beautifully crafted Sinead O’Connor classic, turned it on it’s head, scrapped it and made it their own. I love it. So dope.
