The San Francisco native has remixed for all that top dogs and is aiming for a sun drenched 2015 dance party. Tickle me surprised when he said his non dance-music inspiration comes from old school hip hop, bands like Rage Against the Machine, and NOFX. Dude had me sold once that sexy sax hit. Sergio Flores would be proud.

For some reason, when Chaz Bundick was just a one-man show, he wanted to confuse us all by naming his band in the plural – Toro y Moi – as well as in two different languages and he ranks in at number two for coolest non-Dizzie Gillespie musicians to come out of South Carolina, obvi behind Hootie. TyM is linked with the rise of the chillwave movement, but keeps changing his sound with every album – a la Brand New (maybe not quite so drastic, but still). Mr. Bundick went to USC for graphic design, is supposed to be dope live, has a dance music side project band called Les Sins, and doesn’t he kinda remind you of Donald Glover..? That’s all I got.

If you enjoy this, you may enjoy this – felisayslisten.com – but whatevs, I don’t care.

Scott Hansen, a.k.a. Tycho, came onto the scene in 2011 with the breakthrough release, Dive, which blended elements of ambient and chillwave, and drew comparisons to other blossoming acts of the time like Washed Out, Neon Indian, and Toro Y Moi. Now, Hansen is back with a follow-up LP, Awake, set to be released on March, 18th. Like most of these other acts, there has been a gradual shift towards instrumentation and a keen ear to how these new songs will translate in a live setting by Hansen. Two other tracks off of Awake have surfaced, “Awake” and “Montana,” and today a third, “Spectre,” came out. All 3 signify this shift with heavier drums and layered guitars that give deeper emotion and feeling to the music. Enjoy the latest below.

He’s certainly got my attention! And by he, I mean French electronic producer/compser Roman D’Amour. This trained sax + keyboard player has a penchant for house music and apparently poetry too. As self-described, “The perfume of French Touch and the beautiful melodies are the bases of a music which he wishes attractive, candid and in love.”

Here’s the full bio released with the EP:
With a third Ep, Roman d’Amour definetly knows how to bring the year to a wonderful close. Carefully crafted during the recording sessions of Polish singer Ja Miron’s debut album (the sweet voice already heard on ‘De Lux’), Roman d’Amour reveals a little more of his talent as a gifted producer. Strong Enough packs in melancholy and straight cut beats, expanding the musical spectrum of the young producer. Starlette and Telephone Rouge share the familiar Roman d’Amour’s style with catchy melodies and surgical sample use. Telephone Rouge Ep is here to get you through 2014 with some highly effective tracks.

And here’s the title track, Telephone Rouge:

***NEW CONTRIBUTOR ALERT*** August is almost halfway over and Labor Day is just around the corner, which is the signal for us to all cross our fingers and hope for an Indian summer. Fortunately for us, 19-year-old Belgian producer Roman Bauthier (aka LUUUL) is here to answer our collective prayers for endless sunshine, gifting us with a dreamy chillwave EP recently released on What About You/WAY Records. Listening to his track The Morning After (featuring Anna Paul) is nothing short of a synesthetic experience; put on your headphones, close your eyes, and bliss out while the ebb and flow of saccharine vocals and echoing synths transports you to a paradise where you can feel the warm sand between your toes. Breathe in the muted colors of dusk and let the salty breeze linger on your lips as you listen to Beach (featuring vocals by Amanda Roi), a tune whose fluid and glassy melodies evoke nostalgia for first loves and for the infinite possibilities of a youthful summer spent collecting grass stains and fireflies. Take a break and treat yourself to a refreshing few minutes of musical vacation– you deserve it.

Young Lungs was released a while back but the full album by Work Drugs just came pretty recently. This duo from the banks of the Delaware River in Pennsylvania have really put together something special for us. They describe their music to be specifically “… for boating, sexting, dancing, yachting, and living.” That sounds pretty good to me. Ben Louisiana and Tom Crystal have really created something enjoyable for us. Even if you’re not in the enjoying that yachting life right at this moment, you can enjoy it with Work Drugs. Young Lungs was the original single and still my favorite but the rest of the album does not disappoint. I also really like West Coast Slide and A Measure of Life. The title track, Mavericks, keeps that smooth groove going as it caps off this wonderful album. Check it out and see which one you like best because there a lot of goodness here. Get some for yourself!
