Leach; verb
(soluble chemical or mineral) drained away from soil, ash, or similar material by the action of percolating liquid, especially rainwater.

… percolate; verb – gerund to be precise.
1. [Liquid or gas] filter gradually through a porous surface or substance.
2. [Of Coffee] be prepared in a percolator…

Let’s get this straight, a musician who [claims] the fruit of their labor embodies the essence of distilled rainwater in its purest form. Nothing sounds more refreshingly soothing; my thoughts exactly while listening to “What I do.” Luscious vocals lull us on a cloud of choral-soulful-electro/synth-chill-folk-alt ~ just fabulousness. I haven’t heard the organ included in any releases of late; brava, Leach. The variety of instruments, vocal styles, attention to detail, and ultimately raw talent demonstrate an artist ensnared in the vastness of musical possibility. I predict a non-conformist, Sherlock; Millennial Spirituals.

Put it to the test, imagine, your version of crystalline leach –

Millennial Spirituals was released March 15, 2016

female vocals on tracks 2, 5, and 6 – Alyssa Frost
electric guitar on track 3 – Richard Carpenter
At least today is crazy nice in NYC. Helping usher it in, Aussie band, Tigertown, whom the synth-pop gods doth shined the fire of a thousand suns upon, especially with their new single. They just toured with Magic Man (I’ve been mentioning them a lot lately, haven’t I? Did I mention that I also really really like them? No..? Ok I will later). Tigertown was selected a couple years back by Village Records, a NYU student-run label that chooses one band to help promote and break into the music industry. Pretty cool right? I can’t remember my school offering anything like that… :-/ All I got is a stinkin’ blog.

Very few bands or groups can survive the departure of their lead singer. Some try and return, yet the second time around typically falls pretty flat. Due to this when the Greek duo, Keep Shelly In Athens, announced the departure of singer Sarah P. back in January, I had kind of written them off. However, now I have been made to rue that decision. Keep Shelly In Athens founder RΠЯ has returned with new singer Myrtha and completely retained the airy ’80s inspired dream-pop sound that first caught my attention. So, learn from my mistake and give Keep Shelly In Athens’ new one, ‘Fractals’, a listen.

Here’s the press snippet: “While polishing his upcoming album and new project Freak You just unleashed a brand new original featuring the brilliant UK singer Bright Light Bright Light. The result is an instant lush of dreamy synths around a first love discovery well tale by Rod Thomas. Stay tuned for Freak You new project and album in Spring 2014.”

Oh yeah! I used to blog here in a past life! It’s all coming back to me! This cool piece by Vancouver’s Hannah Epperson brought me back. It’s a refreshingly sweet electronic pulse that is good accompaniment to all the other crap I’ve been spending time on instead of blogging. This girl performs live with a loop pedal and her violin, which is pretty badass, and definitely something I wouldn’t mind taking a look-see at. Enjoy this nice little autumn treat!

Jamie Leffler’s voice is so ethereal and wispy and beautiful like a pretty scarf from a street cart in India. I just wanna dance around in a field with it flowing around me. Someone should take pics and put ’em on Instagram.

Dwntwn is one of my favorite things to come out of the west coast, and I have been patiently waiting (read: tweeting at them every month) for a new track to pop up so I could get my fix. Patience is rewarded kids!!! Remember that! Chocolate is one of the best songs of the year, and Dwntwn’s cover is a perfectly dreamy interpretation that for some reason just WORKS. SO. WELL.

Wanna get intimate with Dwntwn? First off, download this track for FREE! And then listen to See My Eyes or Stood Me Up on Spotify – awesome songs.

Swedish duo I Break Horses caught my attention two years ago with their debut Hearts, which included some of my favorite songs from 2011 (Load Your Eyes and Winter Beats, specifically.) Now they are back with new single “Denial.” Their shoegaze guitars have ostensibly been traded-in for more prominent synths, regardless though, the warm textures and pop-friendly melodies still hold a place on this single. There is no word of when to expect a sophomore LP, but “Denial” has certainly piqued my interest in what is to come next.
