Now with over 900,000 views under their belt, the group moved to a Villa in Florence to work on their debut album. They acquired drum machines and Italian keyboards from the 1960’s and recorded what seems to be dream/dance pop at its finest.

They have shared stages in the past with such artists as: Pet Shop Boys, Mark Ronson, TV On The Radio, Flight Facilities, Yuksek and others, as well as performing on some major festivals in Europe.

Now they’re back with the first single, Space in Space. It’s everything I love about experimental rock.

Leach; verb
(soluble chemical or mineral) drained away from soil, ash, or similar material by the action of percolating liquid, especially rainwater.

… percolate; verb – gerund to be precise.
1. [Liquid or gas] filter gradually through a porous surface or substance.
2. [Of Coffee] be prepared in a percolator…

Let’s get this straight, a musician who [claims] the fruit of their labor embodies the essence of distilled rainwater in its purest form. Nothing sounds more refreshingly soothing; my thoughts exactly while listening to “What I do.” Luscious vocals lull us on a cloud of choral-soulful-electro/synth-chill-folk-alt ~ just fabulousness. I haven’t heard the organ included in any releases of late; brava, Leach. The variety of instruments, vocal styles, attention to detail, and ultimately raw talent demonstrate an artist ensnared in the vastness of musical possibility. I predict a non-conformist, Sherlock; Millennial Spirituals.

Put it to the test, imagine, your version of crystalline leach –

Millennial Spirituals was released March 15, 2016

female vocals on tracks 2, 5, and 6 – Alyssa Frost
electric guitar on track 3 – Richard Carpenter

Wait no longer; Hot off the press!

Est. London, UK

How is your 2016 going? I heard today that 20% of the year is over… leaving 80% for [some] sensible decisions about: “health,” work, lo0o0o0ove, politics, and if there’s time, you! Besides successfully cooking unburned chili and finishing 1 book with my students (!! screaming internally !!) … not much for me. Enough about me, let’s talk about you – but first, from the pit of darkness – a slap of soul sparks my sedentary thoughts back to sense; not to mention, fierce undertones of funk free your bones to moo0ve. Finally, shall we?

I’m impressed and excited by Seramic’s sound. They first released “People Say” on New Year’s Day (or Dec. 30th whichever is more badass). More recently, 11 days ago to be precise, they’ve graced our cochlea with a groovier approach; a unique sound in our era of synthemaxiwaawaaaa..what kind of pedals? Which brings me to my focal point: “Waiting.” Listen as you read, this London-based group is both mystical in physicality as they are in talent – show yourself! You can find Seramic at a few upcoming underground/bridge festivals I may or may not have frequented in my London life, but to preserve the sanctity of London’s vibrant speakeasy scene, I’ll stop myself there.

Despite the fact an 1/8th of the year is complete, it still feels like just the beginning, and what a way to kickoff 2016, Seramic. Bon a petit, New York.

Te quiero para siempre, Amy; but oh, look what we have here…

“No one calls you honey when you’re sitting on a throne”… snap, yes!

Valerie; I can’t help the chills for yet another mysteriously delectable Valerie. Winehouse immortalized the mystical Val; yet, Broussard grounds the sound of “Wicked” in, am I hearing this right? Westernized cabaret soul… adorned with a smooooth beat.

Local to New York & Philadelphia [incredibly hot music spots right now] Valerie showcases a range of talents on her Sound Cloud, revealing a diverse & qualified musician. Her deliberate and precise execution of theory is evident in her musical portfolio thus revealing a singer/songwriter dedicated to the rhythm within her. Eloquently written in her biography, Broussard’s “haunting lyrics and sweeping melodies…” attribute to her luxurious mystique. Budding from a frequently featured artist into a confident soloist, Valerie Broussard’s talents display refreshing and powerful purpose.

I think I found my Valerie…

I present to you, Moon Walkers for some 2016 charmé[d] (tenses: ing, s, ed) listening. The name comes from what I can envision would be the perfect (not to everyone) playlist for my first walk on the moon. Don’t make me wait too long, Branson.

2016 just keeps throwing curve balls our way, so why not take ourselves out of the present, and think for a moment. Thank you and R.I.P. Don Addis for our adapted image.

Playlist Skim:

– Highlighted artist: Raleigh Ritchie a.k.a. hip, hip, hurrah – Jacob Anderson! I am thoroughly enjoying the hype of his sound.

– Watching Miike Snow’s come back has been lush! He’s on tour currently, ahem.

– Throwing it back to Beautiful Girls has sparked my fantasy of quitting my job, moving to Australia, and becoming a surf instructor. 2016 goals? Anyone with me?

– You like eclectic, eh? You’ll like this; listen and think.

I remember the precise moment I sold my soul to the music devil; South by Southwest, ATX. The very own Most Definitely’s Stoli infused afternoon at The Yard. Before that my unexposed dreams twinkled in classical piano, A Capella’d harmonies, and celestial music festivals. Needless to say, this year had me hooked. My fellow writers and cousins have inspired my search for musical talent. Oh, and I finally got that electric guitar, oww. I bid you adieu Beelzebub’s year. A brief confessional precedes my list; in the words of our most mystical Calypso, “My intentions are honest ones, and my heart is not made of iron…”

Maybe I should blame my fiery zodiac, or just admit… Sharing this list exposes the soundtrack of my year thus far, a personal and utterly biased list. I can’t speak for you, but, if you take a gander you might just find yourself learning moves you’d never dreamed feasible (or flexible enough for). Two quick confessions and then we’ll commence musically, I promise. As a small town high school English teacher, the music industry is comparable to Dante’s second ring of hell, a daunting fiery pit of passion, authenticity, and soul; a niche I am gingerly stepping into through wonderful role models and musical talents. Finally, my draw to the music is through my synesthesthetic (new word?) viewpoint. I see the notes morph through spools of color across my lids, they roll, bubble, pour, through my veins. It’s a direct reaction to the art and dedication of the artists. Alas, enjoy. Make space to dance, lay, and free your body from our daily mundanities.

Here’s a Soundcloud version of the playlist, with a few added bonuses not found on Spotify:

The recently released EP by the breathtaking, Philadelphia-based Marion Hill, brings a new edge to her sweet debut circa 2013. This sultry siren appeals to a wide audience by integrating elements of Moulin Rouge burlesque and soulful vocals over ambient electronics and jazz forte. Her risk-taking and command of musical identity speaks honestly, her confidence articulates a message of complete and utter dominance. Hill puts vixen to tune in her new single “Got It.” Not to mention, her talented featured artist Steve Davit infuses her work with timeless bravado.

Check out her new album Sway; also, she’s touring, you ought-a check her out.

A Tale As Old As Time: After falling deep in to the underbelly of Montreal’s experimental underground music scene – and falling hard she did – Claire Elise Boucher, a Vancouver-raised ballerina attending McGill to study neuroscience (the Harvard of Canada if you didn’t know – although it IS “Canada” – but like, Sangria Wednesday’s at Gert’s Bar… am I right or am I right?!), became the scene’s latest victim. She began spending more and more time recording and performing under the name Grimes (taken from Grime music, a genre that emerged in England in the late 90s: primarily a garage/drum & bass/ dancehall combo), eventually only attending class to take exams, which promptly led to her expulsion, bc, well, Canada don’t play no shit! Life on the mean streets of Montreal didn’t last long as Claire, now just Grimes, started a performance space in an abandoned textile factory which led to the creation of her record label and being pretty big time. Now the vegan producer/artist/musician/singer/ songwriter and music video director is finally out again with new tunes (full length album 11/6) (all real facts btw).

Oh Wonder, an impressive South-east London-based duo, has risen to their challenge of releasing a new single each month for the last year. As a culmination of these tracks, they are gearing up to release their debut album on September 4th. The tender vocals and humming beats create the most beautiful dichotomy of sorrowful love songs. In song and presence, Josephine and Anthony have brought back a modern Bonnie and Delaney of blissful melodic youth. The intonations in the lyrics unveil a tortured history, revealing a raw truth about young love, and yet there is irrefutable longing dripping from each emotionally-charged word. The highly motivated duo is wrapping up their successful 12-month challenge and preparing to embark upon a tri-continental tour to promote and share their arduous work with the world. A band built upon resilience and musical loyalty, Oh Wonder will flourish. Their music will reach wide audiences for it speaks a resonating truth about love, motivation, and dedicated work.

“…who we are chasing stars, won’t you dance with me?” Lose It

The mysteriously prophetic Rockaway Beach based duo strikes again. The facts on Lewis Del Mar remain largely ambiguous even after having maxed out their stay on top of the Hype Machine main chart last month with Loud(y). Now Memories, LDM’s sophomore single, has repeat performance written all over it. The same alt/experimental vibe, heavily influenced by cynicism, surf culture and the esteemed production of Andrew Maury…thats two for two in my book.
