It was around this time last year when I first feel for the deep, sultry sounds and floor-rocking, booty-dropping beats of Sydney-based singer and producer, KLP. Words like temptress, seductress and femme fatale come to mind when personifying her titillating tunes. And as for today, it’s with releases like this that Kristy Lee Peters continues to prove why she is a voice to be heard, loved and remembered.

After being named on inthemix top 10 Local Producers to Watch in 2014, selected to play the EMC Spotlight and crowned Triple J Unearthed Field Day winner the buzz around Sydney DJ/producer/vocalist Kristy Lee Peters aka KLP is finally starting to make landfall in the states. Though Kristy Lee Peters’ turn under the KLP moniker is just one EP old (her
Revolution EP was released through DCUP’s label Chookie back in May) the
Sydney DJ, producer and vocalist has been a steady presence on the local
scene for plenty of time now.

2013 has seen her collaborate with the likes of Taku, Dcup, Germany’s Satin
Jackets (on Eskimo Recordings), Crayon (on Yuksek’s Partyfine) and What
So Not on their beast ‘Jaguar’ (through Sweat It Out and OWSLA).

Never one to stand still, KLP was named one of the 10 Local Producers to
Watch by inthemix in 2014, selected to play the EMC Spotlight, crowned
Triple J Unearthed Field Day winner and on top of all that, is a facilitator with
the Heaps Decent project.

Her latest solo offering DECIDE, is a super-hooky, multi-vocal layered and
bass driven jam, showing us a new side to KLP’s ever growing repertoire,
proving again why she is one of Australia’s most exciting new industry talents.

Last night I was out with a friend and maybe 3 or so drinks in (I’m a small person, keep in mind), and the DJ played a remix of Give You Up by Le Crayon (the Darius remix to be exact). Shazam was failing on me so I went up to the DJ to ask, and then made my friend record an Instagram video of him saying the name of the song. Yeah, instead of just writing it down. REALLY dumb. But I liked it that much. I realized later that I had heard about this song before, from KLP’s Facebook – she’s an Australian singer and producer I had blogged before – so essentially, everything fell together and now I am sharing this choice tune with you all.

Le Crayon (Lauren Crayon) is a French producer who has worked with some of the best: Crystal Fighters, Anoraak and Alan Braxe to name a few. He’s released an EP with Pyramid on Kitsuné, so you know you can trust his stylings. This piece is a disco dream, and everything on the EP is awesome.

With a name like “Tropical,” you know it belongs on this blog. KLP, aka Kristy Lee Peters, is a newly-debuted solo artist out of Sydney, Australia. Dudette was already known down under for her DJ sets and guest vocals, but with her new EP Revolution she is absolutely defining herself as a synth-poppy force to be reckoned with. The layered vocals, horns and Caribbean drums combine into just the perfect summer cocktail.
