But I’ll tell you a few things about it, after you hit play on this track. Did you hit it? OK good.

Leading off the festival for me was Local Natives. Playing in the monsoon the mud wind and rain could not stop them. I have a soft spot in my heart for them, and they powered through the elements to deliver a high energy and appreciative set. Which got me thinking about this remix I posted 3 years ago, when I had just left NY. It’s also fitting because this is the second Teen Daze remix I’ve posted today. Consider this a bit of a throwback, consider it a recap. But most of you probably were not reading what I had to say in 2010, so maybe this is totally new to you. Regardless, it’s absolutely gorgeous. I hope you like it.

They came up as my interest in music was starting to bubble over into something uncontrollable. I caught them at The Delancey, I caught them at Bowery Ballroom. I was hooked. They make real music. Sometimes, it’s nice to hear some drums and guitars and no synths. I love that they can all sing. They go heavy on the drums. And they harmonize like a motherfucker. This track has taken everything I’ve come to love about Local Natives and nailed it. Their album, ‘Hummingbird’ drops January 29th.
