Anyow, we’ve had a lot going on at TMD these days so I’m only looking at the Lollapalooza schedule now for the first time. I’m leaving Thursday morning and feel a bit like im back in high school Spanish class…I dont know shit. Either way, let’s start cramming now.

Thursday Night

I want to go to Atlas Genius w/ San Cisco @ Schubas but will probably end up at Empty Bottle for Wild Nothing because my Chicago connects are big fans.

Friday

The Neighbourhood at Noon is on the wishlist but there’s virtually no chance I make it out that early.  Robert DeLong at Lake Shore stage at 12:15 would be a tough choice.  I’d be interested to see how his one-man-band holds up at a large-format festival setting.

San Cisco at 1pm at The Grove, not gonna make it esp if I see them Thurs night, but oh well.

If you want to catch Icona Pop at 1:45 on Lake Shore, you’d better hustle.  No flip flops people, closed toe rubber soles if you know whats good for you.  If you’ve never been to Lolla you gotta understand it’s on like 3 square miles of land.  Picture 3 or 4 times the size of Coachella.  Plan on walking 5-20 minutes in between stages depending on how far apart they are.

That said Jessie Ware and Atlas Genius overlap at 3:15 but their stages are next to eachother so you can do a little of each if needed.

Then Band of Horses and Pacific Air overlap at 4:15.  Again, they are nearby but i’m not gonna try to do both here.  Probably just commit to Band of Horses as Pacific Air will definitely have a reasonably accessable gig in NYC pretty soon (Bowery Ballroom, Music Hall of Williamsburg etc.).  I bet Band of Horses plays Radio City next time they come through NYC, and thats the worst live music venue of all time so lets take care of that one now.

The rest of the day is easy.  I’ll prob take a break, check out Hot Chip then hustle over to Nine Inch Nails.  But you cant really go wrong, The Killers is a great set too.  Much love to Lana Del Rey for scoring a headline gig at her first Lolla.  Im not really a fan but you gotta give credit where credit is due.

My aftershow choice Friday night is The Neighbourhood @ Subterranean.  SubT is probably my favorite venue in Chicago, plus i’m staying in Wicker Park, so this is a layup.  Past SubT aftershow highlights for me include DOM, Young the Giant & Jeff the Brotherhood.  You want energy, go to SubT.

Saturday

There are fewer conflicts on Saturday so lets breeze through this a little faster.  My day will start at 2:15 with St. Lucia, HAIM then Ellie Goulding.

I’ll skip the Foals set to get set up front for The National (prob my fave band of this century).

Not gonna catch the Blondfire set but daps for scoring a 6:50pm set on my favorite stage, BMI.  I never thought of them as that big, but I guess that’s what happens when you land a big time sync license.  The rest of the day is a layup.  You can’t really miss.  Unless, of course, you commit to seeing Azealia Banks.  Sorry, she lost me somewhere around the time she called Baauer a fag on Twitter.

Late night Sat, i’ll be at Lincoln Hall for HAIM & St. Lucia but  Band of Horses @ Metro would also be a good call.

Sunday

Okay, it’s gonna be virtually impossible for me to ge to the Palma Violets show at 1pm on Sunday…which can only mean one thing.  I’m gonna have to catch their aftershow at Schubas Sunday night.  Seriously, try not to miss this.  This was my favorite show at Coachella this year.

Wild Nothing, MS MR, Alt-J, 2-Chainz (just cuz i’ve seen Vampire Weekend, Major Lazer and Beach House) and then Cat Power to close out the weekend. Thats right…Cat Power. No bid for Phoenix with 75k other people.
