Mixing alt-rock ballad with electro-pop dance jam, 90 Pounds of Pete have created an addictive sound with new single “Promiseland.” This is bringing me back to when I first heard Passion Pit’s Chunk of Change EP, chilling on the porch with my friends doing bad acoustic covers. There is simply something nostalgic about this track from the New Orleans-via-Chicago duo (songwriter Peter Martin and producer Adam Stewart). Every track St. Lucia releases is better than the last, it’s as simple as that. In fact, Elevate might be my favortie track of the whole summer (and this Passion Pit Remix is red hot). If you caught them live this summer then you know what i’m talking about, “The Way You Remember Me” is even better. Their debut full length album, When The Night drops October 8th and I’m very excited.

This is the kind of major label marriage you hope for. After five DIY albums, Portugal. The Man released the spectacular In the Mountains In the Clouds under Atlantic in 2011. After dominating the tour/festival circuit for the last 2 years, they released a glorified victory lap last month titled Evil Friends (the band’s 7th album, 2nd under Atlantic). You see? The system is not entirely broken.
