Superwalkers is a Swedish super-duo from the year 2987. They were supposed to be sent back to the 80’s but ended up in 2014! OH-EM-GEE! They have returned to “share their vision in a way we all understand – through music.” With their future-retro sound and progressive attitude, they believe that music will change the world. They claim they are here to remind us: “We are strong.We are capable. We are all superheroes.” I have a buddy who also believes we all at least have some sort of “superpower,” no matter how big or how small. He claims his is to hold his diarrhea in until it turns solid. He’s a weird guy. So too it seems are the Superwalkers. Makes sense I like them both, I guess.

The Knocks – Classic (Powers Sunset Version)

As any white girl from the northeast would say: “I literally can’t even”. I can’t stop listening. The VIBES. The Knocks came through this summer with their late summer anthem, Classic and I was hooked. How could it possibly be remixed from such perfection. Oh well, you don’t know?? You slow that shit down to 87 BPMs and let the angelic vocals of POWERS shine through. If you don’t get whisked away to paradise I don’t know what to tell you. It’s just amazing. Now I know it’s Friday, but I’m trying to get my zen on right now. Emails get checked in the morning and at night. In between is nothing but real life experience and it feels so… classic. I hope you can enjoy the zen.

The Knocks: so hot right now. We had the pleasure of having them DJ our South by Southwest show on Saturday and I’m still not fully recovered. They’ve got a ton of momentum going right now having just released their Comfortable EP, and now we’ve got the remixes coming in. Weighing here is DC electro producer turned full band leader, Lightwaves. Here he let’s the original stretch it’s legs out and adds a funkdafied, Nile Rogers-esqe guitar lick and some general disco dust to the tune. I’m loving it, hope you do too.

The Knocks! All is right with the world when they are putting out new music. Last week we got real “comfortable” with their release and now they’re sharing ‘The One’ featuring the legendary Sneaky Sound System. It just feels good. Back in 2012, you couldn’t find me at a party where The Knocks were not the soup du jour. Then they went deep into the lab and people could only guess what they were brewing up. Aside from some remixes, the Lower East side duo has been pretty quiet as of late. Well that is rapidly changing as they start to release some new tunes. The EP drops Feb 18 via Neon Gold.

Like the eighth night of Hanukkah or bedtime on Christmas eve, the end of our 2013 year in review lists has come too soon. Each one of us has enjoyed sharing some of our favorite songs with you this year. There were so many great tracks that were released that it was very difficult to pick just a few to represent what 2013 had to offer. The following are small selection of my favorites from the past year.

For each of us this was a difficult task. How does one compare Postiljonen, Two Door Cinema Club and The Knocks? Each one feels so different and fills such a unique niche that we could debate their individual merits well into 2014. At the end of the day, sometimes you just have to go with your gut. Fortunately, that is pretty much what we do around here which is how we made it through this harrowing experience.

Unlike my cohorts, I was unable to pare down my selection to fewer than twenty tracks. Anything less than that seemed unrepresentative of the wonderful tapestry of music that has passed through our collective imagination here at TMD. I hope you enjoy this installment and please let us know if any of your faves that were left on the chopping block (we all have some there, trust me). Happy holidays and enjoy!!!

I can’t remember the last time I blogged a dance track. Maybe you thought I was getting soft or just losing it in general…maybe you’d be right. But maybe, just maybe it’s cuz I hadn’t heard anything amazing in a while. That is what we do here, after all, right? We share only that which crushes. No sugar coating here at TMD, no hidden agenda. Just straight shots all day. Although I must admit that it helps this remix reminds me of the video for the original. Oh, you haven’t seen it yet. Don’t worry, I got you. Last night I stayed up until 1:30 AM watching the Bruins lose in triple overtime to the Chicago Blackhawks. So today, I’m feeling slightly depressed and very tired. But it’s not all doom and gloom coming out of New England. TMD certified producer, Peter Thomas releases an amazing French house influenced remix of The Knocks’ ‘The Feeling’ and it’s so fresh. If you’re into Madeon, you’re going to love this. Also, keep an ear out for the 2:41 mark – that’s when things get all turnt up. Enjoy.
