My dad always says, “if you work hard enough, you just might get lucky.” Well I’d say this discovery of Turboweekend falls in line with that mantra. I’ve been sitting here, sifting through hours of music in booking our upcoming SXSW show and this came across my desk and I was intrigued. They come to us from Denmark and I’m thoroughly enjoying what I’m hearing. And the fact that their name calls to mind Norwegian band Turbonegro only adds to my fondness for them. You may remember Turbonegro from the Wild Boyz theme. Anyway, I’m getting off topic here. Back to the point. They are known for being one of Denmark’s best live acts at the moment, which have earned them a Danish Music Award (Danish Grammy) for best live act in 2011. They were also nominated for an MTV Europe Music Award for Best Danish Act in 2010. But there’s a ZERO percent chance you knew any of that.
