By now, it’s quite clear that NY-based singer-songwriter VÉRITÉ is a force to be reckoned with. After catching her at SXSW this past March, her powerful (and packed out!) performance was a true indicator of her immense talent and growing success. With the consistent capacity to churn out killer tracks, as we have seen from songs such as “Wasteland,” “Echo,” and “Weekend,” VÉRITÉ gifts us with “Colors” – a wildly vibrant indie-pop production that is narrated by the songstress’s storytelling.

“Colors,” which is instantly infectious and wildly intriguing, illustrates VÉRITÉ’s knack for crafting complex lyrics and her clear ability to make her mark in the pop music world. The first few moments are entrancing, but as soon as the heavy beat kicks in and VÉRITÉ’s voice sweeps over, you’re hooked. Produced by MSMR’s Zach Nicita, “Colors” possesses a driving rhythm that is completely blown out of the water with her powerful voice. She explains that “lyrically, it has a really complex, convoluted meaning to me that has changed with each iteration of the song.”

It’s easy to fall for her — VÉRITÉ’s sound is simple and sweet yet intelligent and multidimensional. You can hear a million years of life and passion in everything she does. There’s just something really special about Kelsey Byrne and it is impossible to ignore. She shares foolish love stories with a potent delicacy, her sharp vocals beautifully piercing your ears before opening your heart. VÉRITÉ took me to the edge with her gorgeously layered pop gem “Weekend,” and just catapulted me into the heavens with this new release.

One of my favorite discoveries from our SXSW show last year was DeltaFoxx, who came in all the way from from Brazil. Im fairly sure they played three separate sets at The Green Room 2014, and led the charge every day and night regardless. MVP status if you ask me. Last week they dropped this absolute gem remix of Verite – Weekend. 100% chance this makes it into a TMD DJ Set sometime in 2015…right Tim?

Weekend romance in your 20’s is the summer fling of your teens. Unattached from your inbox, phone calls and the fluorescent lights of an office, every Friday comes with the promise of falling in a new kind of love. You resurface on Monday with pockets filled with stories to share and a stupid smile that lasts until you’re back at it. Or, perhaps the weekend your falling in love with is more fantasy than reality. Taking a “weekend” during a busy day to drift off in thought, allowing yourself to detach through dreaming of the romance you’ll never have with the one you want the most.

I know it is only Wednesday, but I am ready for the weekend. And thanks to disco-pop producer Penguin Prison, I’ve got a reason to start dreaming. VÉRITÉ took me to the edge with her gorgeously layered pop gem “Weekend,” and Penguin Prison just pushed me into the infinite abyss with the release of this remix. The lyrics divulge the nostalgia for love’s exhilarating moments, mixed with the reality of how temporary that elation can truly be.

It’s the song that started it all. We are massive supporters of VERITE here at TMD and we’re beyond stoked to have her playing our absolutely stacked CMJ show tomorrow at Brooklyn Bowl. Our love affair began the first time we heard this track back in April, and now it finally gets a proper release to the world. If you were curious, the hype is real. VERITE is back working her way into our hearts and minds with her second debut release. I say second debut because the tune that we fell in love with back in April has gone into the abyss and we’re left to mourn the days when it was love at first listen. But fear not, because you’ll be immediately hooked in on Strange Enough by her angelic tones, dark synths and minimal drums. It’s sure to be stuck in your head until she graces us with another release. Which can’t come soon enough.

We don’t know much about VERITE. But I know that I love this song. As soon as that chorus kicks in you melt. I’m completely hooked and I know nothing about her, other than she’s an NYC based artist and I’m in love. FIND ME THIS GIRL!
