So that was 2013 huh? Pretty solid year. I’ve been working on this list all year. Full disclosure, if you’re looking for the obvious “Best of 2013″ list, this is not for you. This is more about the tracks that might have slipped through the cracks, the tracks that never quite got the attention they deserved. Some of them are more obvious than others (read: Daft Punk). While others, need to be heard (read: Streets of Laredo).

How do you boil down a year to 15 songs? In my case, you don’t. You make a soundcloud best of and a Spotify Best of list. We had a banner year personally, professionally and musically. A lot of firsts that I am extremely thankful for. Rather than sit here and wax poetic on what was definitely the best year of my life, why don’t you just sit back and listen to these tunes that helped make 2013 so special?

I love it when our worlds collide like this. We fell in love with Kool Head earlier this summer after their single release show at Nighthawk Cinemas. And today they drop a tremendous new single produced by one of our favorite indie electro artists, Joywave (who just so happens to be playing our show on FRIDAY). I also happen to love the message here which is so easy to forget. There is no forever so get out there and follow yo’ damn dreams. See you mofos on Friday.

TMD’s August Mixtape

There’s just too much good music going on right now. I’m all kinds of jacked up about this month’s mixtape. If you were worried about me dropping a surprise mixtape last week, fear not. This one might just be better. Last week I was reallly feeling the horizontal disco vibe. This week, we’re all about that nu-disco state of mind. The lead track really sets the tone for the rest of the mixtape. We’re still all about summer and now we’re trying to get that weekend dance party started a day early. I hope you enjoy this one, it was really fun to make.

Take everything you think you know, gather it up in a pile. Throw some gasoline on it. And light that shit on fire. Cause you don’t even know about Kool Head. Things are different after you witness things on this level. I had the pleasure of attending a very sexy video premiere party last night with very little details other than to show up. That was enough for me. To say I was surprised by what I was in store for is a gross understatement. The crowd was straight up sex and the live set set the place on fire. To paint a picture, the best way to describe the vibe is if Robert Palmer, Outkast and Spank Rock by some magical miracle had a three way love child, it’d be Kool Head. Be on the lookout for more from this Brooklyn / Atlanta outfit. They’re bringing the heat.
