I’ve actually never heard an Oliver Nelson remix that I didn’t like. After all, he pretty much invented TMD’s most heralded genre, nu disco. Two of Stockholm’s finest come together in this masterpiece thats plug-n-play ready for poolside or late night, take your pick.

Don’t you just love it when a plan comes together? It wasn’t my plan, but man, but cheers to the person who put this one together. The mixing of two of our favorite artists is always a fortuitous occasion. This remix is no exception. Chromeo has just finished up their forthcoming album and this whets the appetite for their upcoming release, but this song deserves its own by-line. We love Oliver Nelson here and have been enjoying his excellent remixes for quite some time including, Mikko Echo – Kids, Naughty Boy ft. Sam Smith – La La La, Suit and Tie, well, you get the idea.

Nelson has given this Chromeo booty shaker his full attention and damn if he hasn’t done a bang up job. Here he’s slowed it down changing up the whole flavor of the song. Oliver’s gone deep and created a remix that sounds like Chromeo wrapped in Chromeo. It’s almost like he mixed Night By Night with a little bit of 100% to the to create something extra Chromeo-ee. Much like a deep fried Oreo, no one is complaining because it’s delicious. Check out this track and if you don’t like it, well then you’re just not invited to my Chromeo party. Well there’s one thing for sure. Oliver Nelson has certainly developed a signature sound. I’m pretty sure I could pick an Oliver Nelson remix out blind. Reminds me of RAC. Not that they sound the same, but you always know when it’s an RAC remix cause it’s got his signature touch. Well Oliver Nelson is doing the same thing. Pretty much everything he touches is dope. This time he give Mikky Ekko a jolt of sexy and it’s great.

Excuuuuuuse me for being the 170,000,001st Naughty Boy – La La La YouTube play. Sometimes you get in your own zone and stuff slips through the cracks. Not that the original is really in the sweet spot, but I should at least know what the f is going on in the world. (Come to think of it, I haven’t even seen that Gangnam Style video from last year…oh well…FML.) I this case, though, you had me at Sam Smith + Oliver Nelson. I just get excited when two artists on top of their respective games collaborate for a remix. Im just a sucker for that shit. It also helps that lately i’ve had a serious hankering for some Nu Disco.

Oliver Nelson is having a moment right now. He’s right up there in my book with Goldroom & RAC in the cream of the crop of producers in the game. You know what you’re going to get with an Oliver Nelson production. It’s going to be mind bendingly good and you’ll probably have it on loop for at least a week. That’s when you know it’s good. Here he takes a track from Stockholm based, EVERYWHERE and takes it to tropical bliss heaven. So sit back and enjoy this one. Cause it’s like that.

The kid is back. No not Justin Trousersnake. Me. Took a few mental health days and now we back in the saddle. Glad we got a crack team of writers who don’t miss a beat around here. So I can go unnoticed for a few days. Anyways, a rising favorite here at TMD, Oliver Nelson just did it again with this smooth as butter remix of Justin Timberlake’s Suite n Tie. It’s dope.

Urban Cone – New York (Oliver Nelson Remix)

Freakin Stockholm man! It’s ironic that this track is called New York but all it does is make me want to move to Sweden. Can’t I just live there for 3 months a year? Thats all I ask. The Swedish are just dominating the hybrid electro/disco/chill/house scene and its making me excited.

This is the third Urban Cone remix for Oliver Nelson, and they just keep getting better. Also, peep the Deja Vu Remix from last year…so dope.
