Porter Robinson – “Worlds” Remixes

I haven’t really fallen in love with any new material lately, so I thought I’d turn your attention to a few noteworthy remixes of tracks from Porter Robinson’s masterpiece, Worlds. All three are similarly impressive with customary uplifting house vocals, hard hitting bass lines and most importantly, a hint of Robinson’s originality that sets him apart in the house industry. The first comes from NYC producer, Anamanaguchi, with a remodeling of Robinson’s new hit, Sad Machine. The second provides a heavier dose of house courtesy of Russian producer, Arty. Last but maybe the most impressive is a beautiful edit of Sea of Voices by the well established house name, RAC. This last one provides a medley of rounded synths that make for an almost underwater feel to the track, if that’s at all possible. Check em out below.

RAC is no stranger to most music blogs and vice-versa. Andre Allen Anjos has spent years honing his craft and grabbing people’s ears by putting together highly-catchy indie remixes. Now, Anjos is set to release his first LP of original material that includes collaborations from again, some of the indie-world’s elites. The LP is being released in two parts, Strangers Part I, which came out on March 1st and Strangers Part II, due out April 1st. Below is the upbeat and joyous track, “Tear You,” which features vocals from Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros. Give it a listen and check out Strangers Part I.

Grizfolk – The Struggle (RAC Mix)

I was interested to see what RAC would do with Grizfolk‘s, The Struggle. Grizfolk describes their music as

“….songs speak of dusty deserts and the vagabonds that inhabit them…It’s where folklore meets four-on-the-floor; where tumbleweeds meet turntables. Songs that sound both futurist and revivalist at once.”

Upon further reflection, (and listening to the song) it seems like the perfect collaboration. Grizfolk’s soulful vocals and great guitar riffs work well with RAC’s injection of synth and samples. I think this will be one his best remixes of the year if not the best. Take it for a spin, you won’t be dissapointed.

RAC – Let Go (Robert Delong Remix)

In a massive case of irony, the reigning champion of remixes, Mr. RAC himself get his own original work remixed by the insanely talented Robert Delong. The end result: mind bendingly good blissful tech house. This is so damn good. Welcome to the other side.

MS MR – Think of You (RAC Remix)

I’m still buzzing from RAC’s last offering, “Let Go,” and now André has put out a quality remix to MS MR’s “Think of You.” Admittedly, I do have a soft spot for MS MR remixes, like CHVRCHES‘ and Yeasayer‘s takes on “Hurricane.” But regardless of this bias, the “Think of You” remix is a sure-fire dancefloor track. The original is a bit dark, slow and chugging with a catchy chorus. Well, RAC latched on to that chorus and dropped it over a dance driven beat to completely flip the song on its head. Well here is some news to brighten up your Monday: RAC is making an album. Portland native, André Allen Anjos, a.k.a RAC, has been churning out remixes and covers for the better part of the past couple of years. (You can see the extensive list of remixes over at his soundcloud page.) However, it appears Mr. Anjos is now stepping out of the rework game and creating original songs for an album; and talk about coming out firing. “Let Go” is a surprise up-beat treat featuring vocals from none other than Bloc Party’s Kele and MNDR’s Amanda Warner. We may be at the tail-end of the summer, but a song like “Let Go” will keep the fire burning a little bit longer.

Hows errbody’s decks looking? Seriously, 12 days on the road followed by a blowout Fourth of July weekend in NYC…my decks need serious clearing. Prob gonna take me another day and half, but no reason I can’t make this layup right quick. You know how some of the sexiest looking people have mixed race families…think Alicia Keys, Jessica Alba, Karen O, Bruno Mars (#nohomo), Hallie Berry (alright I’m done)…well the same goes for music. And I wake up this morning to find that they got redubbed by none other than Andre Allen Anjos aka RA-muthafuckin-C. This is unreal. So excited about this track I can’t keep my pantalones on. Enjoy.
