Purity Ring – Begin Again

I have to be honest, the first time I heard Purity Ring’s latest, ‘Begin Again,’ I really didn’t want to like it. Two years ago Purity Ring arrived on the scene through creating dark-synth that still sticks with me today. So, when ‘Begin Again’ was released yesterday, I was looking forward to the same aesthetic. Instead, the Canadian duo took their sound to a poppier degree, which initially pushed me away. However, I decided to give the song a second try and I am glad I did — because I haven’t stopped listening to it all day. The trademark Purity Ring icy openness remains, yet now with intermittent climatic blasts that breathe new life into the established sound. Sophomore album, Another Eternity, is due out March 3rd and for now, enjoy ‘ Begin Again’ below.
